About | May 2, 2007
I’m a poor taxonomist and an infrequent correspondent, but I post things here from time to time. It numbs the seasonal anxiety designers feel when they don’t update their websites.
I’m pursuing a PhD in digital media at Georgia Tech. Right now, Most material here—image or text— deals with that research.
From 2006 – 2008 I was an assistant professor of Graphic Design at Georgia State University. Before joining the GSU faculty I taught in the Graphic Design and Interactive Media Design Departments of the Art Institute of Atlanta and in the Communication Design and Technology Department of Parsons School of Design.
I was educated as, and work as, a graphic designer. My favorite client is __________.tv, and my least favorite was _______. I’ve also done consulting work related to graphic design education and digital media.
I served as the director of operations for the cross-media publication Reconstruction Report, a project of The Design Trust for Public Space facilitating public input into the redevelopment of Lower Manhattan after the events of 9/11. I also worked as a project manager for Lifecycles and Landmines, a collaborative studio of Parsons Center for New Design investigating issues surrounding land mines and unexploded ordnance.
I’ve been involved in a variety of audio projects over the years, notably the so-called “electro-punk” act Retconned (offsite), which has released several records and toured in the U.S. and Europe, and the groups Ultivac and The Amverts. I avoided mentioning that on this site for awhile: being a professor didn’t seem very punk, and being a punk didn’t seem very professorial.
